Hi,
could you tell us a bit more about your system:
What firewall software are you using? Have you checked to see if FDM is allowed?
What FDM version are you using? the latest is 3.9.3 build 1360

If you are using a public Wi-Fi hotspot than it is likely that the s have blocked torrent traffic. If that's is the case, then *I think* circumvent this would only be possible by encapsulating your connection with something like a VPN.

You could try to a torrent with some good seeds like Ubuntu Desktop 64 bits: http://releases.ubuntu.com/13.10/ubuntu ... so.torrent
Just see if you can get the starting

Thanks. FDM usually works very well. I'll google that "VPN" thing.

If FDM fails to torrents only from that *one* WiFi hotspot, it is safe to assume that the doesn't approve of torrents. In which case he/she might also be blocking VPN connections!
If you are seriously considering a VPN option, for this sole purpose, then it might be better to request a trial to check and see if VPN connections are allowed in that hotspot.

They most likely have security wifi setup to prevent any torrents usage or VPN on their network that they don't approve. Trying to go around it is getting into legal problems of which I would advise one not to do if you don't own the wifi - for your own home setup that is up to you what you do with it.
