1. Read the old topic Good News for Linux s & other OSs ed by WINE
or older messages in this topic, f.e. here: A Linux Version of FDM.
2. Go to http://freemanager.idea.informer.com/ and vote for Linux version.
3. Note that FDM 5 Preview uses Chromium Embedded Framework for GUI so it may be easier to port it to Linux. If you like FDM 5, test it, report bugs and missing features, please.

FDM for Linux as a feature? 2a2u10

MuaadElsharif » Tue Jun 27, 2017 11:32 am

Hello everyone.

First of all I'd like to thank you for making this great manager, it made my life so much easier!

I know that FDM for Linux has been a popular demand of many s for many years, and I know and appreciate that you have it on the list of features to develop. I just checked the feature poll and FDM Linux is 4th with 605 votes totaling 14% of the voter share. And it's ranked 4th on idea informer with 369 votes (mine included).

I do have a question tho: Is FDM for Linux is a feature? How does the mac or the Windows benefit from it?

FDM for Linux isn't a feature, it's a platform for s to enjoy this amazing piece of code and a possible increase in database!

Thanks.

It would be awesome, sadly it's number four or five on the list so I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Not sure but since this is a free program the incentive will be hard to do that. I would think by now linux sites would have some kinda er program. Did you ask those linux forum site about this before posting here as well? Also even if Unix is the underpinning of Servers Apache. Linux as a whole isn't still recognized as a O/S for every uses. It has a steep learning curve even though they have it as UI but that doesn't mean it operates the same and commands aren't the same either. So for Linux has margin of since software developers still haven't gotten on board because Linux has so many distro infighting that is doesn't present itself as a real alternative to software written for Windows platform.

I am also in favour of a Linux port of FDM, preferably on Snapcraft. Where is the place where we can vote for features?
