Add on to use as a copy manager for large files over slow lan network?
Re: All feature requests (Please post requests here) 6513z
to select the rate limit for each item and overall.
Re: All feature requests (Please post requests here) 6513z
Sometimes I want to watch a video file as it s. However often ing a file as a single section is not fast enough on my connection so the video stalls after a few seconds or minutes. Increasing the number of sections doesn't help as FDM splits the sections evenly across the whole file, so videos still stall - though the total speed increases the speed of each section may actually decrease.
An option to "optimise for video streaming" where FDM groups all sections into the first 10% of a file, then the next 10% etc would allow me to maximise my speed with multiple sections and start watching a video almost immediately rather than waiting for the entire to complete.

Re: All feature requests (Please post requests here) 6513z

consider the following case.
1. a torrent file has a series of files (music, photo, video collections) to be ed.
2. started the and ed to 90%.
3. peers or torrent might have expired after that.
4. out of 500 files consider 400 files are ed 100% and 20 files of 50% and others are of 30%.
So now how about providing a way for to filter those 400 files and copy all of them to a particular folder that wish. I think this feature should be easier to do.
one more suggestion , please provide open folder option in files list also.

Re: All feature requests (Please post requests here) 6513z
The most annoying feature of FDM is that it cannot understand the difference between files to be ed & instructions for the browser to those files, e.g. it s PHP & ASHX files, & even files named "40" that are only a few hundred characters long. Surely it should check what is intended the same way that browsers do. Looking thru the forums, this has been reported as a problem for over 2 years. It is very difficult to accept FDM as a serious program when it takes so long to fix obvious errors.
Re: All feature requests (Please post requests here) 6513z
It would be nice if videos were ed in smarter way.
Start with the last few MB and then continue sequentially from the beginning.
This way we would be able to start to see the movie just a couple of minutes after the start.
Thank you.

Hello! I think in the interface is not enough of these buttons:
1. Stop button for notification sound.
2. The delete button for s.

Re: All feature requests (Please post requests here) 6513z
I suggest you enhance the "Add " dialog. It should have both "Compact Mode" & "Advanced Mode".
"Save to folder" & "Save as" should be merged as one "Save path" (with file name). In this way, the "Folder browser" must be altered to "File browser" and you can take advantage of the new style of file browser on Vista & Win7. Additionally, adding feature " last saved path" will be appreciated.

You seems to not use groups. Save folder is defined separately in group properties.
And you ignore path/file length. If you want to easy edit filename, you should have a very long editing field, maybe too long to fit in the screen size. Read MSDN about Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces, especially for very long Unicode names.

I do not use groups because of no "Last save path" for groups are ed. If I want to edit full path of a new file, I have to click twice (one for folder path, one for file name). The idea here is if I want to directly TYPE the full path, so how I can do just with 1 click.

You really should learn more. For the start try with setting "Always use this group and the last output folder each time" in menu Options | Settings | s | New .
The idea is you don't need to edit anything in most cases.
You can choose different save folder using different group and you can select last used folder from the pulldown folder list. FDM can add defined comment to a filename or rename files with identical names like Windows explorer does (f.e. filename.ext to "filename (1).ext", "filename (2).ext" etc.). In many cases FDM cannot determine filename when starting beacuse of server-side redirections, so you should not interfere in those redirections.
And if you really want to add anything (f.e. version number) to a filename, it is easier to edit separate field. This way you are sure to not delete a backslash in a path name and you don't need to scroll text in edit window.

Ok, I see you and I've used this setting since I installed FDM. But what should I do to force FDM to the last output folder in EACH GROUP (just like the way IDM does)
Re: All feature requests (Please post requests here) 6513z
I have no idea if these have already been implemented, but my must have features/usability changes are:
- An option to save a log file with every that contains information about that . So let's say I a file from http://www.blahblahblah.blah/thisfile.exe. A log will be created called "thisfile.exe.log" that contains the filename, URL, the date and time the completed, referer used, comments, file size, and (again optionally because it could be slow) the file hashes of the file (such as CRC32, MD5, SHA1, etc).
- The ability to enter a referer for a without having to click on the "Advanced" button, followed by the "Protocol" tab. I think the referer should be somewhere in the "Add " box, as it's so commonly used.
Thanks for a great manager!
