Thanks for adding Metalink to FDM! I'm very happy to be able to use them!
I have a few favors to ask.
1) Could you list Metalink on the features page? Otherwise, most people won't know it's been added
2) It would be nice if you could add s to your queue with local .metalinks with
File -> Import -> Import list of s
Right now the choices are *.txt and *.xml
3) Some Metalinks list multiple files.
<files>
<file>
<file>
etc
Right now, I believe only the first file is added to the queue.
I would add a link, but I think this msg would be marked as spam. There are some on the metalink site. Some Metalinks at metalink.packages.ro contain them under a /collections/ subdir.
4) Most Metalinks contain chunk checksums. Like those included in torrents, they allow s to be automatically repaired. All Metalinks at metalink.packages.ro contain them.
5) Some Metalinks contain directory information
<file name="squid-2/md5s.txt">
In this case, a "squid-2" directory would be created, with a file called "md5s.txt"

shameless bump.
By the way, be really careful about security with the metalink directory info. You know, we don't want a metalink with <file name="..\..\..\..\..\Windows\system32\somecriticalfile.dll> causing any trouble.

Indeed.
a draft of the updated Metalink spec is at http://groups.google.com/group/metalink ... sion/files
it would be great to see for automaticly fixing s w/ errors in FDM using chunk checksums from Metalinks!
0.1 Changes in the Third Edition
This third edition of the Metalink 3.0 Specification contains mainly clarifications, except for the change to using RFC 3339 for dates & times (4.2.1.3), changes to tags (4.3.4), and deprecating unused or underspecified elements (4.3.8 and 4.3.17), and an explicit example of extending Metalink with XML namespaces (4.4).
how to post 431b3j
can anyone tell me how to use metalinks in FDM?
I don't see it anywhere in the program interface, the help file or the website.

send a URL of a metalink (like http://www.metalinker.org/samples/OOo/O ... e.metalink for example) to FDM.
it should pick it up automatically.
